BHAR OPERATING SYSTEM (OS)

India is the fastest growing in digital. There are good things and bad things. The weekly column "Terminal" focuses on everything connected and unconnected. It focuses on digital issues, politics, ideas, and issues that dominate conversations in India and the world.

1. What is BharOs?

Bhar Os means operating system it's an indigenous operating system that can be installed in mobile devices it has been created by IIT as a part of the center's Atman Bharat Mission.

The operating system provides access to apps that meet the security and privacy standards the operating system aims to change how privacy and security are perceived in other words, think of it as another version of iOS or Android so just like that there is another operating system which the government or not the government but the IIT have worked on and they have shared it with the government now the operating system will give access to Reliable apps from organization-specific private App Store.

However, this is going to remain a big challenge the operating system also offers native under-the-air updates that are automatic automatically downloaded and installed now will this be a game changer or not is the big thing it's the big question bar OS comes in the backdrop of Google dominating the market because of Android the Google, in fact, the ecosystem was found guilty of abusing the OS market and absolute creating absolute domination.

where each app company present on the Google app store had to pay a 30 fee for the fact that they are so popular there have been several demands for an Indian App Store bharos will give access to Reliable apps from private app stores as well but how seamlessly is this going to work and blend in and will there be acceptability for this Made in India operating system is going to be the big question.

Android it's not an entirely new operating system so Android itself there is a component of it called (AOSP).

2. How is BharOs different from Android and IOS?

Technically, BharOS is not that distinct from AndroidThis operating system is based on the Android Open-Source Project (AOSP). The main difference between Google's Android operating system and its BharOS is that BharOS does not come with Google services and allows users to install apps of interest.

Functionally, BharOS is based on AOSP, so it's not much different from Google's Android. Also, BharOS does not come pre-installed with applications. It is unknown how to replace the pre-installed operating system with BharOS. which is the Android open-source project the Android which you get on your phone that has the Google Play services and that's the proprietary part, but Google does provide Android without their own Services.

As well and this is basically built on top of it so no it is not an entirely indigenous operating system to start with so in effect we do continue to use Android it's something it has been built on an  Android platform is that what you said okay and additionally I mean just going by the information that we have so far you know there are there is talk about having this available to 100  crore Indians realistically.

3. When will BharOs be available for download?

Currently, there are no figures on when BharOS will be available for download. Unlike the Windows platform, not only one build of BharOs can be installed on all Android phones, and the team behind BharOs needs to make the operating system work smoothly for each smartphone model.

There is no public documentation on BharOS and its features, but it appears to be a "fork" of the Google-led Android Open-Source Project (AOSP).

4. How to install BharOs?

There is currently no word on when BharOS will be available for download. Unlike the Windows operating system, a single build of BharOS cannot be installed on all Android phones, and the team behind BharOS should optimize the operating system for each smartphone model to run smoothly. Therefore, BharOS could only be available for select phones at the time of launch.

While the team behind BharOS talks about the demand for an app store-like service for BharOS, it is interesting to see if it will partner with an existing service or be built from scratch. Once available, you may need to unlock the bootloader and install a custom recovery image to boot BharOS onto your Android smartphone.

5. Who Made BharOs?

Bhar os

JandK Operations Private Limited, founded by The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT) has developed its own operating system. It's a new mobile operating system with a focus on privacy and security. Mobile operating systems, like Google's Android and Apple's iOS, are the primary interface for smartphones.

6. Who is using BharOs currently?

The BharOs service is reportedly currently being tested by some organizations with sensitive information that have strict privacy and security requirements and require sensitive disclosures about restricted apps on their phones by customers. Such users will need to access non-public cloud services over non-public 5G networks.

There is some domestic interest in another operating system that could help challenge Google and Apple's monopoly in this space, but BharOS may not meet those needs. It seems designed for organizations. For example, consider defense organizations, government agencies, and data collection companies that require secure devices with operating system user restrictions controlled by the IT administrator at the organization.

BharOS is recommended as a privacy and security-oriented operating system for organizations with these requirements. The announcement comes after India's Competition Commission found Google guilty of abusing its dominant position in the OS market.

7. How will apps work on BharOs?

BharOS is designed to provide users with an alternative to the traditional Android experience. The main goal of the developers is to provide a local operating system that does not depend on foreign companies.

As a result, it will have its own app store, allowing users to download and install apps, eliminating the need for the Google App Store. Users can also download third-party apps, further expanding their options to install more apps. However, while BharOS can run most applications, some applications may not be compatible with the new operating system.
